Artists in the studio

Here is a quote about Amy LaVere

"a Southern girl thumping a doghouse bass bigger than she is and singing in a woozy, whispery voice that casts an intoxicating spell… "-The Chicago Tribune

Amy LaVere and her fine band (with connections to Leonard Cohen and BR549) made it by the studio and really showed off some of the excellent material on the new CD, Anchors and Anvils.

I already liked the CD but after the interview my respect for this recording went way up. We have been playing a few songs from the CD and after today we will be adding more. So, tune in and call in with your requests for Amy.
Amy and crew are so nice and sweet. I hope to post some in studio pictures on this blog soon. They played tonight at the Gray Eagle in Ashville. They opened up the show for Robinella. Did anyone make it out to see them? If so, I'd love to here from you.
Amy and band played Frisbee out in front of the studio before they went on air, Amy found a Goose feather that made its way to her hair for the interview.

Speaking of artists in the studio, The Hackensaw Boys will be in the studio tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon. Really been looking forward to this. If you haven't heard them, they play a blend of old-time and bluegrass-tinged string-band music. The Boys are getting ready to put out a new CD called Look Out and I'm hoping to hear some new tunes as well as my favorite "Fiddle My Blues Away". They will be playing at the Grey Eagle tomorrow night.
